Czech President in Israel: You can rely on us

    • Relations with Israel are important for the Czech Republic. It was confirmed by the visit of the President of the Czech Republic Petr Pavel in mid-January 2024. He met with President Isaac Herzog and  assured his Israeli counterpart that the Czech Republic stands shoulder to shoulder with the Jewish state in its battle to defeat Hamas. President Pavel told him: “We stand in solidarity with your right to fight terrorism.” 

    Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also welcomed Petr Pavel on his first visit to Israel as President of the Czech Republic. The Prime Minister updated him on developments in the war and thanked him for the Czech government and people’s unwavering support for the State of Israel in its just fight against the Hamas terrorist organization. The two leaders discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation in security, energy, agriculture and innovation. An MOU between the two countries regarding cyber Has was signed.

    In the evening, at a dinner reception​ at ​the King David Hotel in Jerusalem​, the Czech President also shook hands and talked to leaders and members of Israel – Czech Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

    His focus was also on the victims and people affected by the war. President Pavel met with families of hostages taken by Hamas and visited soldier​s wounded in Gaza.
